US immigrant visa eligibility

Foreign citizens who are eligible to apply for an immigrant visa in the USA must be sponsored by an American citizen relative(s), US legal permanent residents or by a prospective employer. The applicant can also be the beneficiary of an approved petition filed with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
 

Immigrant Visa Processing - The National Visa Center (NVC)

In America, The National Visa Center collects the visa application forms, Affidavit of Support forms, and fee payments submitted by the prospective immigrants for US Embassies and US Consulates.

Fee Collection:

The Affidavit of Support fee invoice will be sent by the NVC at the appropriate time to the pertitoner and also it will send invoice of the Visa Processing fee to the applicant or the designated agent of the applicant. If the applicant had a representing attorney then both invoice will be sent to the attorney.

Online Payment:
Information Required while making online payment
  • Fee letter that you received from the NVC
  • Case Number
  • Invoice Identification Number
Other Information you need
  • Your bank's routing number
  • Your checking (or savings) account number
Alternative Payment Method:
If you are not paying online then you must send Cashier’s Check or Money Order.
  • Fee Bill(s) sent to you by the NVC with the applicant's case number and bar code.
  • If you have lost your fee bill, please contact the NVC. DO NOT send payment without the fee bill.
  • Make the cashier's check or money order made payable to the Department of State.
  • Mail the payment and Fee Bill(s) to the NVC.
Please note:
  • If you are applying for Immigrant Visa by adjusting your status with the US citizenship and immigration services (USCIS) you must contact NVC before taking any action or making the payment
  • Do Not submit documents unless it is requested by the NVC
  • Interview preparation has to be started after the notification from the NVC

General Documentation for Immigrant Visa:

  • Valid Passport (Minimum 60 Days beyond expiration date printed on immigrant visa)
  • Affidavit of Support (Form I-864, I-864A, I-864 EZ, or I-864W) from the US petitioner or Sponsor.
  • Immigrant Visa and Alien Registration application form, Form DS-230 and Form DS-260
  • 2 Passport size photos (2X2)
  • Civil Documents for the applicant (IR-5 and F4 cases)
  • Completed medical examination forms
